Joachim Lang (* 1967 in Wülfrath ) is a German lawyer . Since April 1, 2017, he has been General Manager at the Federal Association of German Industry. V. (BDI).

After completing his military service, Lang studied law and political science at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen and at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn from 1988 to 1993 . Following the first state examination in law, Lang received his doctorate in 1994 from the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . He finally passed the second state examination in law at the Higher Regional Court in Koblenz and also obtained a master's degree in European Studies from RWTH Aachen University .

In Bonn, Lang initially worked as a department head for arms control law in the area of ​​responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Defense . This was followed by an activity in the Federal Council , where he worked in the field of fundamental matters and parliamentary law.

Lang then worked in the Federal Council's Secretariat until 1999. Here he took on the duties of deputy committee secretary in several committees and worked in the area of ​​policy issues and parliamentary law.

Until 2006, Lang held the function of coordinator for federal, state and European affairs at the First Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group . Before the German EU Council Presidency, he moved to the Federal Chancellery. Here he was in charge of coordinating the German government's European policy. At the end of 2007, he switched to the DAX company E.ON , whose representative office he headed until 2016.

Since December 1, 2016, Lang has been a member of the executive board of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e. V. (BDI). On April 1, 2017, he was appointed as the new General Manager by the BDI's General Assembly, succeeding Markus Kerber .

Lang is married.
