Joachim Suess

Joachim Süß (born December 22, 1932 in Crottendorf ) is a German zither soloist and dialect speaker and singer.

Suss, who lives in Crottendorf, is one of the most famous zither players in the Ore Mountains . From the age of ten he received zither lessons from Philipp Hänel. At the age of 14 he founded his first singing group, an instrumental group followed for two years and finally in 1949 the Crottendorfer Heimatterzett , which had dedicated itself to the care of Erzgebirge songs .

He has been a professional musician since 1954. Together with the bandoneon soloist Hans Friedl, the Caldarelli siblings and the Münzberger siblings , he first went on tour through the GDR. In 1965/66 he was a zither soloist in the Herbert Roth instrumental group for two years . During this time Herbert Roth and his ensemble produced a number of titles written by Joachim Suss for the radio.

In 1972 he founded his own ensemble Joachim Süß and his ensemble , with which he has since performed numerous appearances and produced several albums mainly in the Ore Mountains dialect. With his ensemble and his granddaughter Therese Fiedler, he can be seen and heard regularly in popular television programs such as This is how it sounds here in the Arzgebirge or the Wernesgrüner Musikantenschenke .

Suss recorded 364 tracks with various ensembles and as a soloist in the studio, participated in 115 television programs and composed 56 songs (as of February 2009).

He is married and has two children.
