Joachim Scheplitz

Joachim Scheplitz (also Scheplitzius ; born September 25, 1566 in Wittstock / Dosse ; † February 20, 1634 ibid) was a German judge and legal scholar .

Scheplitz's father was the mayor of Wittstock. Where Scheplitz received his education is just as unknown as the place where he studied law. It is only known that he probably completed his studies as a doctor of law . His further career is also in the dark. In 1616 he was appointed city judge or local judge in Wittstock. In this office, which he held until his death, he achieved great prestige. His lasting and nationally significant achievement lay in editing and commenting on legal writings by various legal scholars.
