Joachim (Joe) Thumfart (born August 2, 1970 in Cologne ) is a successful German Ju-Jutsu athlete.

At the beginning of the 1980s Thumfart began with Ju-Jutsu, his main sport, in which he currently (2011) holds the 7th Dan . Other martial arts were added later, such as karate , judo , Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Luta Livre .

He was a member of the German national team from 1990 to 2000 . Today he is a Ju-Jutsu teacher, qualified trainer of the German Sports Association, state trainer Ju-Jutsu in Baden-Württemberg , as well as a functionary in numerous organizations related to Ju-Jutsu and martial arts.

Since February 2009, Thumfart has been Director Sport & Technology of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF).
