Joachim Ulrich Amthor

Joachim Ulrich Amthor (born April 23, 1631 in Schleiz ; † November 9, 1694 ) was the Count of Stolberg's court advisor, chancellor and director of the consistory in Stolberg am Harz .

Life

Joachim Hulderich Amthor was born as the son of personal physician Wolfgang Ulrich Amthor in Schleiz in the Vogtland region. Judith Reuss from the Greiz family was one of his godparents . In 1641 Amthor became an orphan, so that he grew up for some time with his uncle Ehrenfried Amthor in the principalities of Schleswig and Holstein. After attending grammar school in Gera , he studied in Jena . After working as a private tutor for Adam Scheller in Jena for some time, he was appointed to Stolberg am Harz . In 1663 he was promoted to the travel council of Count Johann Martin zu Stolberg. Two years later he was promoted to consistorial councilor and in 1668 to court councilor. After he was promoted to office director, he was appointed count chancellor in 1688.

One of his children is Christoph Heinrich Amthor (1677–1721), a poet and translator of the Baroque. He wrote one of the first systematic accounts of economics.
