Joakim Segedi

Joakim Segedi (born October 27, 1904 in Rusky Kerestur , Austria-Hungary , today Batschka , Serbia ; † March 20, 2004 in Križevci , Croatia ) was auxiliary bishop of the Greek Catholic diocese of Križevci .

Life

Joakim Segedi was ordained a priest on September 4, 1927 shortly before he was 23 years old in the Greek Catholic diocese of Križevci. On February 24, 1963 Segedi was appointed auxiliary bishop in Križevci, at the same time he was appointed titular bishop of Gypsaria . He was ordained bishop on July 28, 1963 by the later Cardinal Jossyf Slipyj , Ukrainian Greek Catholic Archbishop of Lemberg ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Gabriel Bukatko , Apostolic Administrator of Križevci, and Augustine Eugene Hornyak OSBM , Apostolic Exarch of England and Wales . Joakim Segedi was auxiliary bishop of the Greek Catholic diocese of Križevci until October 27, 1984. He also retired at the age of 80. At the age of 99, Joakim Segedi was named titular archbishop of Gypsaria on March 17, 2004 . Three days later, on March 20, 2004, Joakim Segedi died at the age of 99 in the Križevci diocese. He was pastorally active as a priest for a total of 76 years and as a bishop for 40 years.
