Joan Colom i Altemir (* 1921 in Barcelona ; † September 3, 2017 ) was a Spanish photographer .

Joan Colom is known for his street photos and portraits taken in Barcelona in the late 1950s. He only took photos in the workers' and red light district of Raval . Colom was self-taught as a photographer and his main job was an accountant. In 1957 he joined the Agrupació Fotogràfica de Catalunya (AFC) and in 1960 he was a co-founder of the artist group El Mussol (Der Kauz).
In Germany, Colom's work became known in 2007 through an exhibition at the Museum für Photographie Braunschweig.
Awards
- In 2002 the Spanish Ministry of Culture awarded him the National Prize for Photography
- In 2004 he received the National Prize for Fine Arts
- 2006 the Creu de Sant Jordi Prize of the Generalitat de Catalunya .
