Joanna Wang
Joanna Wang or Wang Ruolin , ( Chinese 王若琳 , Pinyin Wáng Ruòlín ) (born August 1, 1988 in Taipei , Taiwan ) is a Taiwanese singer and songwriter . With the success of her Sony album Start From Here , she has become one of the most popular singers in the Chinese- speaking countries and Southeast Asia .
Joanna Wang was born in Taipei as the daughter of the renowned music producer Bing Wang. She has two younger sisters. As a toddler, her family moved to the United States , where she was influenced by various musical genres , especially many classic rock bands , including The Beatles , Queen and Oingo Boingo . Among the most influential artists on them include Danny Elfman , Yoeko Kurahashi (倉橋 ヨ エ コ) and Paul McCartney ; video game music is also a major influence on Joanna Wang.
Wang is a left-handed guitarist .
Career
Although she had released an EP called Time in a Bottle back in 2004, it was decided that her debut album, Start From Here, would not be released until January 2008. The double album mainly contains Wang's cover versions of well-known songs, with one CD sung in English and the other in Chinese. Start From Here quickly became a significant commercial success: it reached number 1 in Taiwan and was also very popular in Southeast Asia. Nevertheless, Joanna Wang stated several times on her YouTube channel and on Reddit that she disliked this debut because she wanted to realize her own concept of music.
In January 2009, Joanna Wang released her second album Joanna & 王若琳 , which she and her father co-produced. The double album contains a CD of the same name and her original work The Adult Storybook .
In 2010, Wang's first live album 大人 故事 书 亚洲 巡回 演唱 会 影音 影音 was released , which includes the recordings of her Shanghai concert.
