Joaquina von Vedruna , also Joaquima von Vedruna , (born April 16, 1783 in Barcelona , † August 28, 1854 in Vich) was a Spanish nun and founder of the order . She is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church .

Joaquina, who came from a noble family, married the lawyer and landowner Teodoro de Mas in 1799 at the age of 16. Their marriage resulted in nine children, three of whom died as small children. Four of their daughters became religious. After the death of her husband in 1816, with the help of the Bishop of Vich, Joaquina founded the Congregation of the Carmelites of Love in 1826 , which cares for needy girls, the single sick and the homeless. Sr. Joaquina died in 1854 of cholera that she contracted while caring for the sick. Your religious community received papal approbation in 1880 . When Sr. Joaquina died, the sisters had already established 27 monasteries.

Sr. Joaquina spent the last five years of her life in the infirmary after a stroke, and in 1854 she died. In 1940 Pope Pius XII spoke . Sr. Joaquina blessed, in 1959 she was welcomed by Pope John XXIII. canonized . Her feast day is August 28th.
