family

Jobst was the son of Count Johann V. von Hoya and Elisabeth von Diepholz . Since his father married Johann very late, Jobst was not old enough when he died to take over the government. Live and act

During Jobst's reign, the Hoya line of the Niedergrafschaft died out, resulting in feudal disputes with the dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . As part of this dispute, Jobst had to take the actual imperial immediate county as a fief from the dukes in 1504 . This involved paying a large sum of money. The burden of debt determined the lives of the Counts of Hoya in the 16th century and marked the beginning of the family's financial decline.
