Bernd Ulrich Hucker

Bernd Ulrich Hucker (born March 29, 1944 in Bad Essen ) is a German historian and university professor .

Bernd Ulrich Hucker initially trained as a bookseller and antiquarian and worked in these professions for five years. He then studied history, philosophy, education and German in Oldenburg , Bonn, Münster and Bremen. From 1975 to 1984 he was a research assistant at the PH Westfalen-Lippe and then at the Free University of Berlin and at the University of Bamberg . In 1977 Hucker was promoted to Dr. paed. at the pedag. Hochsch. Westfalen-Lippe in Münster (Westphalia). In 1978 he received a prize for his dissertation. Since 1983 he has been Dr. phil. habil. and was a private lecturer in Middle and Modern History at the University of Bamberg. From 1984 to 1987 he worked there as an academic senior counselor and private lecturer.

In 1987/1988 Hucker was a research associate in the DFG project "Letters Otto IV." From 1988 until his retirement in 2009 he was a university professor at the University of Osnabrück , Vechta department (since 1995: University of Vechta , since 2011 University of Vechta ).

Hucker is a co-founder of the Institute for History and Regional Research, which he headed with one interruption from 1992 until his retirement on March 31, 2009. He was the scientific director of the Lower Saxony state exhibition "Otto IV. Dream of the Guelph Empire" in Braunschweig from August 8 to November 8, 2009. Hucker is a member of the Academie Genealogique Paris, the Historical Commission Lower Saxony (1981), the Baltic Historical Commission (1986) and since 1994 honorary member of the Herold , Association for Heraldry.
