Athletic career

Until 1958 Jochen Fischer played in the junior team of the company sports association (BSG) Lokomotive Dresden-Mitte. In the summer of 1958 he was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team and played eight international matches with her as a midfielder by October 1959. At the beginning of the 1959 season (calendar season), Fischer was delegated to the top division and last year's cup winner SC Einheit Dresden. There he was used as a striker from the first day of play and by the 14th day of play had already played eleven league games. He then paused for several weeks until the new coach Gottfried Eisler set him up as a midfielder in two league games. In the 1960 season Eisler Fischer initially played as a representative of Werner Jochmann for three game days in the defense, but then only considered him irregularly, mostly as a substitute, in another seven league games. In the 1961/62 season, GDR football was switched back to the summer-spring game rhythm, and 39 point games were played in the major league between February 1961 and June 1962. Fischer was again only a substitute player and was only used in six league games. At the end of the season, Einheit Dresden rose forever from the GDR Oberliga.

In the GDR league season 1962/63, 26 games were played, Fischer was only used once. From 1963/64, 30 rounds were played in the GDR league for several years. It was the season in which Fischer finally became a regular player, he was used in 26 league games. In the following two seasons he completed all point games and scored his first goal in the GDR-wide league in 1965/66 . In 1966/67 his career in competitive football came to an end, he only played two league games and scored another goal. Then he let his football career end with the fourth-class BSG Rotation Dresden.

In his eight seasons in higher-class football, Jochen Fischer had completed 29 league games and was used 89 times in GDR league games, in which he also scored two goals.
