Jochen Hauser (born November 23, 1941 in Chemnitz ) is a German writer and screenwriter.

Life

Jochen Hauser grew up in Borna , a small town near Leipzig. His mother was a housewife, his father (a native of Upper Bavaria) was a worker in the lignite mine . He started writing when he was seventeen. The Leipziger Volkszeitung printed his first little stories. In 1960 he graduated from high school. Then he went to a briquette factory as a laborer for a year. He was employed in the district cabinet for cultural work for another year . In 1962 he began to study dramaturgy at the Potsdam-Babelsberg Film Academy. During his very practice-related studies, he got in touch with audio drama. When he graduated with a diploma in 1966, he became a dramaturge in the radio play for adults department in the State Broadcasting Committee in Berlin. In 1966 his first radio play was premiered there. In the years that followed, Hauser was both dramaturge and author.

Until 1982 Jochen Hauser worked as an audio dramaturge for the radio of the GDR , for which he also wrote numerous radio features . From 1982 he worked as a freelance writer for television productions and published novels and stories. His most successful work were the books about the Rechlin family , which had a circulation of over 300,000 in the GDR alone and served as a template for a two-part television film .

With the dissolution of the state radio and television broadcasters, he lost his clients. In the following years he changed his field of work and worked as a scenographer for television series and as a columnist for the magazine FF . For the series Der Landarzt he wrote two episodes in 2003 and 2006.

Jochen Hauser has lived in Berlin since 1964 . He is married and has two children.
