Jochen Novodomsky (born April 4, 1968 in Herrenberg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Jochen Novodomsky played in the youth department of VfL Herrenberg before he switched to the Stuttgarter Kickers . He played with the Kickers in the 1990/91 season in the 2nd Bundesliga , Novodomsky was one of the permanent staff. At the end of the season, the Kickers took third place under coach Rainer Zobel , so the Kickers qualified for relegation to the Bundesliga . Novodomsky met FC St. Pauli with the Kickers . After the two-way leg ended 1: 1, a playoff on a neutral pitch was necessary. In the Park Stadium in Gelsenkirchen , the Kickers prevailed 3-1, so the ascent was perfect. Novodomsky was on the field from the start in all three games.

The following season in the upper house of German football turned out to be less successful for Novodomsky and his fellow sportsmen. The Bundesliga had been increased from 18 to 20 teams through the integration of the East German football clubs, resulting in 38 instead of the usual 34 season games. Novodomsky came to 34 missions and 1 goal and at the end of the season was 17th place in the table, there was no relegation and so the Kickers went back to the second division after only one year. The second division had been increased to 24 teams for the 1992/93 season by switching to a single-track system. The Kickers occupied 15th place in the table at the end of the season, so they were only one point away from the relegation ranks. Because this year 7 teams were relegated to reduce the league to 20 teams. In the following season the Kickers could not save themselves, they were 16th, and since 5 teams were relegated, Novodomsky had to accept the 2nd relegation with the Kickers. From the 1994/95 season was played in the regional football league . In the first season, the championship was just missed. The SpVgg Unterhaching became champions and rose. In the second season in the southern season of the Regionalliga, the Kickers won the championship and were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. Novodomsky played one more season in the 2nd division with the Kickers before he played for one year at SSV Reutlingen 05 and VfL Sindelfingen before retiring .
