Jochen Sandig

Jochen Sandig (born January 5, 1968 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German director, cultural entrepreneur and founder of four cultural institutions in Berlin .

Life

Sandig has lived in Berlin since 1989. In 1990 he was involved in founding the Kunsthaus Tacheles . From 1990 to 1994 he was chairman of the board of directors of Tacheles eV and was responsible for both the company's financing and the artistic program.

In 1993 Sandig founded the international dance ensemble Sasha Waltz & Guests together with Sasha Waltz . In 1996 he founded the Sophiensaele in Berlin-Mitte as a new production facility for independent theater and dance and was its artistic director until 1999 . In 1999, Sandig and Waltz moved to the Schaubühne at Lehniner Platz , where he was a member of the artistic direction with her until 2004. In 2006 he founded the cultural company “ Radialsystem V - New Space for the Arts” in Berlin with the music manager Folkert Uhde , which opened at the beginning of September 2006.

On January 11, 2010, Sandig was made a knight for art and literature on behalf of the French Minister of Culture Luc Chatel .

In February 2012 Sandig made his debut as a director with human requiem , a production of the German Requiem by Johannes Brahms in cooperation with the Rundfunkchor Berlin under the direction of Simon Halsey .

Sandig has been director of the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival since October 1, 2019 .

Jochen Sandig and his wife Sasha Waltz are parents of a son and a daughter.
