Jochen Stobbe (born December 13, 1955 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German local politician ( SPD ). He was Mayor of Schwelm from October 21, 2009 to October 21, 2015 .

Life

At the age of six, Stobbe came to Schwelm with his parents, where he trained as a toolmaker after finishing school. After working in this profession and joining IG Metall at an early stage , Stobbe became a full-time trade unionist in 1986; From 2000 to 2009 he was elected 2nd authorized representative (managing director) of IG Metall Gevelsberg-Hattingen. He also worked in adult education for 30 years.

In 1988 he joined the SPD after a conversation with Willy Brandt . After his time as chairman of the SPD Schwelm, Stobbe was a full member of the Schwelm city ​​council until he took office , and he was also active in committees.

In the mayoral election on August 30, 2009, he was elected as the joint candidate of the SPD and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen with 41.9 percent of the votes cast to succeed Jürgen Steinrücke .

In the mayoral election on September 13, 2015, Gabriele Grollmann, the joint candidate of the CDU, FDP, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and SWG / BfS received 62.3% of the votes cast. His term of office ended with a clear defeat after just one electoral term.

In November 2013, Stobbe announced that he would not make use of the option given due to a change in the North Rhine-Westphalian electoral law to run again in the 2014 local elections and that he would remain in office until the end of the election period (September 2015).

In the mayoral elections on September 13, 2015, Stobbe lost 37.7% against the non-party Gabriele Grollmann (63.3%), who succeeded Stobbe in Schwelm on October 21, 2015.
