Joe Jenkins (film series)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joe Jenkins was a crime series by producer Joe May . Directed by Siegfried Philippi , Einar Zangenberg , Walter Schmidthässler , Valy Arnheim , Bruno Ziener as well as some directors not known by name. Joe Jenkins was portrayed by Léon Rains , Valy Arnheim, Kurt Brenkendorf and an unknown actor.

Paul Rosenhayn , the creator of the character Joe Jenkins , was loosely based on the model of Sherlock Holmes (similar to Stuart Webbs ). Jenkins, who was from the US, was similarly astute, but far more energetic. The crime films were very popular until April 1917 (when the USA entered the war in World War I ) and again after 1918.
