Marie Garnier (born April 10, 1962 in Bern ) is a Swiss politician ( Green Party of Switzerland ) and was State Councilor for the canton of Friborg .

Life

Garnier, a Catholic by birth, comes from Saignelégier (JU), where the family who immigrated from France had moved since 1803. Marie Garnier's grandfather, a psychiatrist, settled in the canton of Friborg and married Jeanne Pernet from Romont for the second time. Her parents are Dr. med. Marie Garnier not only campaigned for extracurricular support, but was also the Y + S manager for skiing, cross-country skiing and ski touring. She is the mother of two children.

Her political career began in the Constitutional Council (2000-2004), to which she was elected on the open list . In 2006 she was elected to the municipal council of Villars-sur-Glâne on the social democratic list (the Greens did not yet have a local section) and in 2011 she was re-elected on the green list. Responsible for spatial planning, roads, traffic and the environment , she completed the revision of the local planning, in which green spaces are guaranteed, finished setting up the Tempo 30 zones, renovated part of the public lighting to save electricity, and fought against shopping centers , with which useless agricultural land is wasted, and created several pedestrian connections, including a path from Espace Nuithonie through Cormanon Park to the Beaumont district .

In the State Council elections in 2011, Marie Garnier was on a joint list of the left ( SP , CSP , Greens) and reached sixth place in the first ballot, in order to be the third of the left-wing candidates in front of the social democrat Xavier Ganioz and the Christian-social Pierre- Class Olivier Nobs. In the second ballot, she was able to improve her good result in fifth place. Marie Garnier took over the management of institutions and agriculture and forestry .

In autumn 2016, Marie Garnier was re-elected as State Councilor in the second ballot. After criticism, she resigned from this office on April 30, 2018. However, the allegation of breach of official secrecy was dropped in 2019.
