Champ-Pittet

The Pro Natura Center Champ-Pittet is a Swiss nature reserve in the municipality of Cheseaux-Noréaz near Yverdon-les-Bains . It is located on a (bank) nature trail in the midst of swamps , forests and fields and belongs to the environmental protection organization Pro Natura .

The heart of the center is the Champ-Pittet country estate. It was built from 1788 to 1791 by order of Frederick Haldimand . The building bears numerous references to the English architecture of that time and thus became the forerunner of later classical buildings in Vaud . There is also an ornithological observatory in reed and reed zones and a vegetable garden in which the Antan vegetables are presented. In addition, insects , beehives and demonstration compostières can be observed in the “Garden of Emotions” and in the laboratory .

On created nature trails with a hiking time of approx. Three hours and a maximum point of 434  m above sea level. M. you can get information about the habitats of the native flora and fauna from April to November . On wooden walkways you cross reed and reed zones, which are typical of the Grande Cariçaie . One arrives at a lagoon with pond roses , in which reed warblers nest. There is an observation tower nearby, from which herons , ducks and coots can be observed.
