Olivier Curty

Olivier Curty (born January 18, 1972 in St. Ursen ; resident in St. Ursen) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ) and has been a State Councilor of the Canton of Friborg since December 16, 2016 . Curty heads the Department of Economics. He was previously Vice Chancellor from 2008 to 2016.

Life

Curty was born in St. Ursen and grew up there. After compulsory schooling, he completed a commercial apprenticeship at a trust company , which he completed in 1990. Immediately afterwards Curty made up his Matura at the College of St Michael on the second educational path . This was followed by studies in political science and European studies at the Universities of Lausanne , Basel and Kent in Great Britain .

After completing his studies, Curty worked in administration , including at VBS and Fedpol . In 2008 he was appointed Vice Chancellor of the Canton of Friborg . He held this position until his election to the State Council .

Olivier Curty was General Councilor of the Murten municipality until 2016 . On November 6, 2016, he was elected as a candidate on the bourgeois list, the fourth-best of a total of fourteen candidates, with 40,190 votes in the first round of the State Council of the Canton of Friborg . After his election, he took over the economics directorate as the successor to Beat Vonlanthen ( CVP ).

Private

Curty is married to Daniela Curty-Stempfel and has two children. He lives in Murten .
