Joe Vito

Joe Vito (* around 1931 in Chicago , Illinois as Joseph Vita Terna ; † in June 2010 ) was an American jazz - pianist , accordionist and bandleader .

Joseph Vito began playing the piano as a child and later learned the clarinet. After graduating from Mt. Carmel High School in 1947, he served in the US Navy in the Korean War . He then studied composition at DePaul University and then worked as a studio musician for the radio station CBS ; He also performed with jazz groups in various clubs and hotels in the city. From 1961 he began to work as a freelance pianist, orchestra conductor and conductor, u. a. for artists like Frank Sinatra , Ella Fitzgerald or Andy Williams . 1983 began his collaboration with the jazz violinist Johnny Frigo , which lasted until his death in 2007, and entered a. a. at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland and the Umbria Jazz Festivals in Perugia and Orvieto . He also worked with Doc Severinsen during his career and performed with various classical orchestras, including as an accordionist.
