Joel Gisler (born February 25, 1994 in Bürglen UR ) is a Swiss freestyle skier . He starts in the halfpipe discipline .

Career

Gisler has been taking part in FIS and AFP World Tour competitions since 2011 . He started the World Cup for the first time in March 2011 in Tignes and finished 21st. In February 2013 he took second place at the Swiss Freeski Open in Davos . The following month he was sixth at the Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he came in 18th place. In March 2014 he won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco. In the 2015/16 season he won the Revolution Tour in Mammoth and the Swiss Freeski Open in Crans-Montana . At the beginning of April 2016 he became Swiss champion in the halfpipe in Laax . In the 2016/17 season he came in four World Cup starts, three times in the top ten and thus achieved seventh place in the Halfpipe World Cup. At the season highlight of the 2017 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Sierra Nevada , he came 26th. In March 2017, he took second place at the Swiss Freeski Open in Laax. After first place in the European Cup in Kaprun at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with second place in the Secret Garden Skiresort . He came in 14th place in the Halfpipe World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished 18th.
