Joep Beving  (born January 9, 1976  in  Doetinchem ) is a  Dutch  pianist  and  composer .

Live and act

Even in his youth, Beving was interested in the classical music of the 20th century and admired the works of Prokofiev , Stravinsky and Rachmaninoff . Beving founded his first band at the age of 14, followed by smaller gigs in his hometown Doetinchem. He then went through a discovery phase and worked for a company in the advertising industry that created accompanying music for advertising campaigns. However, he realized that the advertising industry was not what he wanted. He was uncomfortable with the idea that music should be used to sell people things they don't need.

When he attended the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity , he first noticed the effect his works had on audiences. In the same place in a hotel he played his compositions on a grand piano and, according to his statement, people were moved to tears. That experience was his key experience. Appearances for his friends and other occasions followed.

His first album was Solipsism . He tried to contact a music label, but failed and then decided to finance the production of his first records out of his own pocket. The design was created by the Dutch artist Rahi Rezvani from Iran. His work has been the music streaming - service Spotify released. He became known to a large audience when the Spotify editorial team added his works to a frequented playlist on the platform. His works have now been listened to millions of times by users. Various appearances on television followed. This was followed by a recital in the famous Koninklijk Concertgebouw .

During a performance in the Piano Salon Christophori in Berlin, he met the A&R manager Christian Badzura, who works for Deutsche Grammophon . In this way a contract was signed. His second album was Prehension . In January 2017 he appeared as an artist at the cross-genre music festival  Eurosonic Noorderslag .

style

Beving describes his style as "simple music for complex emotions". His works are mainly described as melancholy sound structures of neo-classical music .
