Johan Nilsson Lilliehöök af Fårdala , also Johann Lilliehöck , (* 1598 - 23 October 1642 near Breitenfeld (Leipzig) ) was a Swedish general and governor of Western Pomerania .

Life

Johan Lilliehöök was the son of Nils Andersson Lilliehöök, member of the Imperial Council , and Brita Hand. He studied at Uppsala University and then took part in the war against Poland under King Gustav II Adolf . He rose to lieutenant colonel and in 1625 obtained the inclusion of the line Lilliehöök af Fårdala in the Swedish knight's house . In 1630 he was promoted to colonel and in 1635 to major general. Under the governor general Johan Banér he was appointed governor of Upper Pomerania and commander of Stettin in 1638 . In these functions he proved his political and military aptitude. He was designated as the successor to the sick Commander in Chief Banér. With his sudden death, however, the decision was made in favor of Lennart Torstensson . Lilliehöök was appointed Reichsfeldzeugmeister in 1642.

On October 23, 1642 Lilliehöök was critically wounded in the Battle of Breitenfeld and died shortly after the fighting ended.

family

Johan Lilliehöök was married three times. In 1628 he married Kristina Hästehufvud, in 1632 Ingeborg Bååt (1614–1635) and in 1638 Kristina Ulfsparre. The later lawyer and diplomat Anders Lilliehöök (1635–1685) emerged from the second marriage .
