Johan Waldenström

Johan Anton Waldenström (born September 17 or September 18, 1838 in Luleå , † November 23, 1879 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish doctor.

Life

He studied medicine at Uppsala University from 1857 and received his doctorate in 1869 . He then taught as a lecturer in surgery and obstetrics at Uppsala University. From 1870 to 1875 he was also Uppsala City Doctor . Shortly before his death, he was appointed full professor of practical medicine at Uppsala University.

Johan Waldenström was the son of Erik Magnus Waldenström (1795-1870) and his second wife Margareta Magdalena Govenius. His siblings included the theologian Paul Petter Waldenström (1838–1917) and the Reichstag member Alfred Waldenström (1843–?). He was married to Hilma Elisabet Gibson from 1873 and was the father of the orthopedic surgeon Henning Waldenström (1877–1972) and the grandfather of the internist Jan Waldenström (1906–1996).
