Henning Waldenström

Johan Henning Waldenström (born August 14, 1877 in Uppsala , † January 23, 1972 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish orthopedist .

He studied medicine at the Karolinska Institute and then worked at the Kronprinsessan Lovisas vårdanstalt , a children's hospital. In 1910 he received his doctorate with the work The tuberculosis of the collum femoris in childhood and its relationship to hip inflammation . From 1910 to 1936 he was senior physician at Sankt Görans sjukhus , then he was appointed professor of orthopedics at the Karolinska Institute. He held this position until 1942.

Henning Waldenström was the son of the doctor Johan Waldenström (1838–1879). From 1905 to 1927 he was married to Elsa Laurin (1870-1939) for the first time and to Ella Wijk (1880-1970) for the second time. His marriage to Elsa Laurin had a son, the internist Jan Waldenström (1906–1996).
