Johan Zuidema (born September 21, 1948 in Zwaagwesteinde ) is a former Dutch football player.

Zuidema moved to the 1971/72 season from his Frisian home club to first division SC Cambuur. In 1973, in his second professional season, he was the top scorer in the First Division with 25 goals. In the same year he moved to FC Twente in the honor division . With the runner-up in the 1973/74 season, the club qualified for the UEFA Cup . There Zuidema contributed nine goals, including the decisive goal in the 1-0 away win in the semifinals against Juventus Turin , significantly to reach the finals, in which FC Twente was then defeated by the German club Borussia Mönchengladbach . At Twente he also briefly made the leap to the Dutch national team, for which he played two games in the spring of 1975.

For the 1975/76 season Zuidema moved to the ambitious Ehrendivision-promoted NEC Nijmegen. There he could not live up to the high expectations that were placed on him. Disputes with his teammate Jan Peters overshadowed his athletic performance. In the end there were a meager three goals and a seventh place.

After only a year, Zuidema left Nijmegen and went to Ajax Amsterdam. There he was increasingly used in the central defense. After three lean years, Ajax managed to win the Dutch championship again in 1977 with Zuidema in the team. In the 1977/78 season he was the successor to Wim Suurbier in the right rear midfield and in this position even moved back into the candidate group of the national team in the run-up to the 1978 World Cup .

While the Netherlands advanced to the World Cup final in Argentina without him, Zuidema injured his knee so badly in a charity match in Drachten that he had to end his football career early.

Zuidema returned to his Frisian homeland. Today he works there as director of a branch of the Friesland Bank in Buitenpost .
