Johann Nepomuk Chapel (Pasing)
The Johann Nepomuk Chapel , named after the bridge Saint John Nepomuk , located in the Munich district Pasing . The chapel belongs to the parish of Maria Schutz and is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.
location
The chapel is located on the left bank of the Würm about 20 meters north of the bridge on Bodenseestraße over the river. From the bridge a small path leads down to the chapel. Opposite the chapel, the Nymphenburg Canal branches off from the Würm. On the headland between the Würm and the canal, about 30 meters north of the chapel, there is also a listed former canal keeper's house .
history
The field chapel was built between 1700 and 1704, donated by the then Count von Berchem. After the destruction in World War II , the building, which was provided with a temporary roof, was initially not used as a chapel. The chapel was not restored to its old state until the 1200th anniversary of Pasing in 1963. The last renovation was carried out in 2000/01.
description
The chapel is a simple building with a gable roof and apse on the north side. On both sides of the arched entrance , the south facade is preceded by undivided pilasters , which end at an equally undivided gable cornice . The side walls each have an arched window.
Inside is an altar of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to the left of it a Nepomuk figure from 1734.
