The lock or canal keeper's house is a residential building in the Pasing district of the Bavarian capital of Munich . It is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.

location

The canal keeper's house is located on a peninsula between the Würm and the Nymphenburg Canal about 50 meters north of the junction from the Würm. It can be reached from Manzingerweg via a pedestrian bridge across the canal across from house number 2. Diagonally across from the house on the left bank of the Würm is the Johann Nepomuk Chapel, which is also a listed building .

history

The canal keeper's house is connected to the weir system that regulates the branch of the Nymphenburg Canal from the Würm. The construction time of the existing building is unsecured. An inscription on the facade says “Anno Domini 1825”, but the building is probably much more recent.

architecture

The canal keeper's house is a small, single-storey building with a floor area of around 6 × 4 meters and thus takes up almost the entire width of the space between the Würm and the canal. The building has a gable roof without dormers , from which a brick chimney protrudes at the side .
