Johann Anton Hemberger , called Hans Hemberger, (born August 8, 1911 in Heusenstamm ; † April 29, 2008 ibid) was a German civil engineer and architect . From 1956 to 1977 he was mayor of the southern Hessian city of Heusenstamm.

Life

Johann Anton was born in Heusenstamm. His parents Johann Josef and Josefine Hemberger (née Daub) had two other children besides him.

On May 9, 1956, the trained master builder and later graduate engineer was elected mayor of the city of Heusenstamm and remained in office for a total of 21 years until he retired in 1977 for reasons of age. He also held the honorary posts of arbitrator and head of the local court for another 21 years. In January 1977 he was first awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon by the then Federal President Walter Scheel . In August 1991, as the highest recognition of his achievements in the city and country, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class by the then incumbent Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker . Among the special merits that led to the named awards are above all the development of the community of Heusenstamm from village to town, its environmental protection activities and its great commitment to a united Europe.

Hans Hemberger was married to Josefine Hemberger (born Gerhardt, April 28, 1915 - April 26, 2008) for over 70 years (May 31, 2006, grace wedding ) and died only three days after her death. With her he had two sons, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
