Johann August Drescher
Johann August Drescher (born January 22, 1896 in Frankfurt am Main , † January 3, 1952 in Saarbrücken ) was a German actor. He was a representative of the best possible articulation of the German stage language, free from any mannerism. His German language skills have not become known to the public.
Drescher first studied theology before training as an actor. This was followed by theater engagements in Frankfurt and at the Dumont stage in Düsseldorf, before he only played at the Berlin Volksbühne in Berlin . This was followed by a job at the Deutsches Theater in Milwaukee. After his return he went back to Germany in 1928 and was employed at the Stadttheater Saarbrücken , where he stayed for almost 25 years. Because of his services to the city theater, he was appointed chamber actor in 1951 . Drescher was buried in the main cemetery in Saarbrücken. The grave was taken over by the city in 1969 as a grave of honor, which it gave up in 1992.
