Johann August von Schönfeld

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann August von Schönfeld (* 1699 ; † June 30, 1760 in Altenburg ) was a Saxon-Coburg-Saalfeld government councilor and most recently court and consistorial councilor in the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg in Altenburg as well as a manor in Falkenhain in the Electorate of Saxony .

He came from the widespread Upper Saxon noble family Schönfeld . As a Saxon-Coburg-Saalfeld government councilor and chamberlain in Coburg, among other things, from 1749 he was responsible for the education of Friedrich Josias Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1737-1815). For lack of money, however, he was unable to take him on a grand tour. After Caspar von Berbisdorf had replaced him as tutor to the prince, who henceforth embarked on a military career, he devoted himself increasingly to government affairs in the duchy.

In 1751 he bought the Falkenhain manor from the von Minckwitz family . This made it possible for him to move permanently from Coburg to his new place of employment in Altenburg, where he worked as court and consistorial councilor in the residential city of Altenburg until his death.

Since 1751 he was born with Elisabeth Hedwig Gertraud. Pflugk , whom he appointed as a universal heir in 1760 for lack of his own descendants.
