The Pathibara (also Pyramid or Pyramid Peak called) is a mountain in the Himalayas in the ridge , the Nepal of Sikkim in India severed.

The Pathibara located in the Kangchenjunga Himal has an altitude of 7123  m . It is located 13.32 km north of the eight-thousander Kangchenjunga . The southern neighboring mountain Kirat Chuli ( 7365  m ) is 4.24 km away. To the northeast, the ridge leads from Pathibara to Langpo, 4.33 km away ( 6965  m ). The western Langpo glacier flows west along the northern flank of the Pathibara .

The secondary summit Pathibara East (also Pathibhara Purba or Sphinx , 6837  m ) is 2 km east-northeast.

Ascent history

The Pathibara was first climbed in April 1993 by an Indo-Japanese expedition led by Harbhajan Singh (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) and Yoshio Ogata (Himalayan Association of Japan) coming from the Indian side over the northeast ridge. On April 24, the Japanese Hiroshi Iwazaki, Nobuhiro Shingo and Yoshio Ogata as well as the Indians Jot Singh Bhundari, Sunder Singh Martolia, Lopsang Sherpa and Purba Lepcha reached the summit. Other secondary peaks that were climbed as part of the expedition are Pathibara North ( 7100  m ) and Pathibara East .

The Slovenes Boris Lorencic and Miha Valic were the first to climb the Pathibara from the Nepalese side in October 2007. They climbed the southwest face (IV, 50–60 °, 1100 m).
