Johann Baptist Weiß (clergyman)

Johann Baptist Weiß (born January 4, 1753 in Wittichen , † 1800 in Konstanz ) was a German Benedictine , priest, teacher and writer.

Life

Johann Baptist Weiß took his religious vows on June 6, 1773 in the monastery of St. Blasien and was ordained a priest in 1776. In the monastery he then worked as a theology teacher. Later he took over the Schluchsee parish . On June 21, 1793 he gave the funeral oration he had written at the grave of Abbot Martin Gerbert . In 1794, after the schools in Konstanz had been taken over by the Benedictines of the Upper Austrian monasteries, Father Weiß was entrusted with the prefectural position at the grammar school there.
