Johann Baptist Aries

Johann Baptist Widder (born September 7, 1797 in Neuburg an der Donau , † January 31, 1863 in Munich ) was a German musician , conductor and composer .

As a clarinetist, he joined the music corps of the Royal Bavarian Infantry Body Regiment in Munich in 1814 . After his election by the officers' corps, he took over the management of the music corps in 1817 and held the post of music master until 1849. After his retirement he took over the management of the music corps of the Munich Landwehr Regiment until 1863 . At the same time he was solo clarinetist in the Royal Court Orchestra in Munich.

The manuscripts of his compositions are kept in the music archive of the Bavarian State Library.

For wind orchestra he composed, among other things:

  • Belgrade March (1858)
  • Three Marches, the Bavarian Army Music Director William Legrand dedicated
  • Parade march of the Royal Bavarian Infantry Body Regiment based on motifs from the opera Moses in Egypt by Gioachino Rossini , AM II, 58
