Johann Brussig

Johann Gottlieb Paul Brussig (born October 27, 1867 in Noes ; † February 23, 1946 in Rothenburg / Oberlausitz ) was a German composer and founder of a music publisher.

Life

He initially worked as a wage worker at the Lodenau / Zoblitz wood pulp and leather cardboard factory and later ran a grocery store in Rothenburg. Brussig acquired his musical knowledge through self-study. In 1906 he founded the Brussig- Notenverlag in Rothenburg, where he worked as a composer and conductor of the brass orchestra. His most famous works include the marches Liebesboten and Mit Sang und Klang .

Brussig financed the first electric street lighting for his hometown of Noes.

In Rothenburg / Oberlausitz there is Johann-Brussig-Straße .
