Johann Carl Zierl

Johann Carl Zierl , also Johann Konrad Zierl , (born March 12, 1679 in Nuremberg , † September 28, 1744 in Weißenburg ) was a German painter under the Ansbach margrave Wilhelm Friedrich . He made numerous portraits of the personalities of the Ansbach margraviate and the imperial city of Weißenburg .

Life

Zierl lost the margrave's favor and was held captive at Wülzburg fortress for many years . He then went to Augsburg , where he painted portraits in oil and miniature in the French style. Most recently he moved to Weißenburg, where he died at the age of 65.

After his death, the Zierlweg in Ansbach was named after him.
