Johann Diwold

Johann Diwold (born April 5, 1911 in Ried in der Riedmark , † May 19, 1978 in Linz ) was an Upper Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1955 to 1967 he was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament and from 1966 to 1978 regional councilor in the Upper Austrian state government .

education and profession

After primary school, Diwold attended a community school and subsequently graduated from an agricultural school. Professionally, he worked as a farmer in his home town of Ried in der Riedmark.

Politics and functions

Diwold began his political career at the local political level and was elected Vice Mayor of Ried in der Riedmark in 1946. On October 9, 1949, he took over the position of mayor of Ried and was active in this function until October 21, 1973. On November 19, 1955, he was elected as a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament, and between 1966 and November 16, 1967 he also held the function of the executive chairman of the ÖVP state parliament club. With his swearing in to the Agricultural Council on November 17, 1967, Diwold rose to become a member of the Upper Austrian provincial government, to which he was a member until May 19, 1978.

In addition to his political mandates, Diwold was a board member of the Austro-Soviet Society and from 1948 a member of the supervisory board of the warehouse cooperative in Mauthausen and from 1953 director of the warehouse cooperative Mauthausen. He was also chairman of the Ried in der Riedmark water cooperative and co-founder of the Austrian newspaper publishing and sales company ( Neues Volksblatt ). In addition, he was President of the Upper Austria Chamber of Agriculture from 1959 to 1966, was chairman of the Upper Austrian Raiffeisen Association from 1962 to 1978 and chairman of the Upper Austrian Farmers' Union from 1965 to 1978. In addition, he was a member of the supervisory board of OKA and chairman of the supervisory board of the Mutual Upper Austrian Insurance Company.

Private

Diwold was born the eldest of three children, his father died in 1924, after which Diwold had to work on his parents' farm at an early age. In 1947 he married the daughter of a farmer Aloisia Wöckinger and subsequently took over the Kirnbauerngut in Wachsreith 10 (municipality of Ried in der Riedmark). He became the father of four sons.
