Johann Eduard Hay

Johann Eduard Hay (* 1815 in Riga , Livonia Gouvernement , Russian Empire ; † 1841 in Genoa , Kingdom of Sardinia ) was a German-Baltic portrait painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Actually determined by his parents to pursue a professional career as a businessman, Hay attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1836 to 1838 after completing his painting training with the Riga genre and portrait painter Leonhard Bülow (1819–1892, also Bülau ) . In Düsseldorf he also took private lessons from Adolph Schroedter . After three and a half years in Italy , Hay died in Genoa of "consumption".
