Johann Eisele

Johann (Jo) Eisele (* 1948 in Sibbesse near Hanover) is a German architect , author and professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

Live and act

After briefly studying civil engineering , Eisele studied architecture from 1971 to 1978 at the Technical University of Darmstadt, with Günter Behnisch among others . From 1979 he worked for several years as a research assistant in the department "Design and Industrialized Building" at the Technical University of Darmstadt. Also in 1979, together with Nicolas Fritz , he founded the architecture office eisele + fritz (e + f) based in Darmstadt, which became ef +was renamed. After separating from office partner Fritz, he founded the 54f Architekten office in 2000, with which he won third prize in the competition for the new building of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2007 he has been working in the office with Claus Staniek and Bettina Staniek.

Between 1987 and 1989 Eisele was visiting professor at the University of Art and Music in Bremen, the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Technical University of Braunschweig.

In 1990 he was appointed full professor to the chair of “Design and Building Design” at the Technical University of Darmstadt, which Günter Behnisch previously held. As a professor, he dealt in particular with office and work environments, high-rise construction, as well as building construction and the use of materials. In 2014 he gave up his chair at the TU Darmstadt.
