Johann Nepomuk Eisterer (born April 5, 1854 in Steegen near Peuerbach , Upper Austria; † January 6, 1931 there ) was an Austrian farmer and Christian social politician .

Life

The miller's son Eisterer took over his parents' farm, including the mill. Although he had only attended elementary school, he continued to study, owned an extensive library, and traveled extensively. At the age of 19 he joined the Volksverein, worked for many years on the association committee and was head of the Volksverein district organization in Peuerbach until his death . He played a decisive role in the establishment of the club house in Peuerbach. Between 1886 and 1919 he was also mayor of his home town of Steegen.

From 1906 to 1918 he was a member of the Austrian Reichsrat , campaigning for the electoral reform of 1907. In 1918/1919 he was still a member of the Provisional National Assembly . He was also active in state politics, was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament from 1907 to 1918 and worked for the Christian Social Party in the provisional state assembly 1918/1919. As a man loyal to the emperor, he then withdrew from political life. He was awarded the professional title of "Economic Council" and "Episcopal Honorary Council".
