Johann Fülscher

Johann Fülscher (born October 28, 1831 in Kronenmoor; † June 21, 1915 in Kiel ) was a German hydraulic engineer.

Life

After attending school, Fülscher was first trained as a surveyor, he attended the Polytechnic in Munich and then turned to hydraulic engineering. From May 1860 he was a hydraulic engineering inspector in Glückstadt , in 1882 he was appointed government and building councilor and transferred to the royal government in Schleswig . He then worked for years in the building authorities of the Kaiser Wilhelm Canal , today's Kiel Canal. For his activities in the construction of the canal, Fülscher was awarded the Red Eagle Order III in 1888. Awarded class with a ribbon. In 1890 he was appointed a secret building officer, in 1895 he was awarded the Crown Order II. Class and other orders of German Federal Princes on the occasion of the opening of the canal. In 1896 Fülscher went to the Ministry of Public Affairs in Berlin , where he was soon appointed to the lecturing council and in 1899 to the secret construction councilor. His field of work was hydraulic engineering matters on the German North and Baltic Sea coasts. In addition to his work, he also published several articles in specialist journals. In 1903 Fülscher was retired. When he left, he was awarded the star for the Red Eagle Order II. Class, shortly afterwards he was made an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Hanover . After his retirement, Fülscher moved to Kiel. On the occasion of his 80th birthday in 1911, he was appointed Really Secret Senior Building Officer.

Fülscher was married twice, his first wife died after a short marriage, a son from this marriage died in adulthood. Fülscher was married to his second wife for 49 years.
