Johann Franz Loew von Erlsfeld
Johann Franz Ritter Loew von Erlsfeld , also Jan František Löw z Erlsfeldu and Johann Franz Löw (born March 26, 1648 in plan ; † March 25, 1725 ) was a German-Bohemian doctor and lawyer who was appointed by Emperor Leopold I in In 1685 raised to the nobility with the title Knight of Erlsfeld.
Life
Loew von Erlsfeld graduated from the Jesuit grammar school in Eger in western Bohemia , studied medicine at the University of Prague with a doctorate in medicine, became a well doctor in Karlovy Vary and continued his studies in Rome with a doctorate in law. He became the personal physician of Prince and Field Marshal Johann Adam zu Schwarzenberg, came with him to Linz , where Emperor Leopold I of Habsburg resided, and also became his personal physician and professor at the Charles University in Prague . In 1699, 1703, 1712 and 1717 he was rector of this university, which was then known as the " Ferdinand University at St. Clement ". His medical publications, which were particularly devoted to fighting the plague , received great attention. He was the owner of the Modletice estate east of Prague. In 1717 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
His wife was Johanna Margarita Cassini de Bugella. She came from the Italian family of scholars Cassini and was a sister of the professor of medicine and rector of the University of Prague Johann Anton Cassinis de Bugella . His son was the royal Bohemian vice country writer Johann Joseph Ignaz Knight Loew von Erlsfeld (1673-1716). Married in 1707 to Elisabeth Alsterle von Astfeld, from the Ulster councilor family, called Alsterle von Rosenthal in Budweis in southern Bohemia.
