Johann Friedrich Joachim

Johann Friedrich Joachim (born June 23, 1713 in Halle (Saale) ; † December 24, 1767 there ) was a German lawyer , historian and numismatist .

Live and act

After attending the school of the orphanage of the Francke Foundations , Joachim studied from 1731 at the Friedrichs University in Halle under Johann Peter von Ludewig "Jurisprudence" ( law ).

In 1738 he received his doctorate in both rights (including canon law) and was appointed after a few years as a private lecturer in 1748 to the extraordinary professor "juris et historiarum" (law and history) at the law faculty. In 1762 Joachim was appointed full professor of history at the Philosophical Faculty. From 1762 to 1767 he was also responsible for the university library.

Of his publications, his writings on coins should be emphasized.
