Johann Friedrich Sehestedt

Johann Friedrich Sehestedt , Danish : Johan Frederik Sehested (* around 1725 in Fredrikshald ; † June 10, 1785 in Copenhagen ), was a Danish lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Sehested was a member of the Danish-North Jutian noble family von Sehestedt . The Danish family took the name Sehested because of the similarity of the coat of arms. His parents were the Danish Lieutenant General Knud Gyldenstierne Sehested (1690–1758) and Frederikke Augusta Heusner (1695–1765).

career

He was already a cornet in a cavalry regiment in 1738 but was transferred to the Mounted Guard in 1742. There he was promoted to second lieutenant in 1746 . In 1750 he was Sekondemajor in national Dragoons regiment and ibid. He also received in 1752 his promotion to Premier Major . In 1756 he moved to the second Funen Cuirassier regiment, rising in 1757 to lieutenant colonel and in 1759 to colonel on. Also in 1759 he became a commander in the national dragoon regiment. Sehestedt took over on September 28, 1763 as chief of the Baudissin cavalry regiment . Here he advanced to major general in 1772 . He became a knight of the Dannebrog Order on December 21, 1774 . He was promoted to lieutenant general in 1785.

family

Sehestedt married Pouline Fabritius de Tengnagel (1738-1819) in Copenhagen in 1756. The marriage resulted in several children, including:

  • Frederikke Marie Sehested (1757–1826), ⚭ 1804 Frederik Theodor Blom (1763–1836), wine merchant
  • Johan Frederik Gyldenstierne Sehested (1765–1830), Danish major general, ⚭I 1789 Louise Dorothea Lengnick (1765–1795); ⚭II 1797 Sofie Hedvig Agate Kaas (1774–1833)
