Life

Czigan comes from an ancient Silesian and Bohemian noble family, the Czigan (Zygan, Zigan) or Cygan ze Słupska (Zegota / Czegota von Slupsko). Before 1614 or around 1615 he undertook a study trip to Leipzig , Jena and Strasbourg , on which he was led by the nobles Johann Bernhard II. Maltzan (1597–1667), Freiherr von Wartenberg, Joachim and Andreas the Elder. J. von Kochtizky (Kochtschütz), barons von Kochticz and Lubliniec, Christoph Ernst von Prittwitz zu Laskowitz and as educator ( preceptor ) by the humanist, lawyer and poet Jakob von Bruck-Angermundt (around 1580 – around 1622). In Strasbourg, the noble students were given poems by the poet Johanna Otho , which Otho published in 1616 in her first volume of poetry, the Carminum diversorum libri duo . After Strasbourg, the study trip continued through France and Italy. In 1622 the Protestant was still studying in Leiden .

Czigan married Marianne Freiin Kochtschütz, sister of Andreas and Nikolaus von Kochtschütz, the governor of Neisse.

The poet Daniel von Czepko , who had lived as a private tutor on his estate Dobroslawitz in the first half of the 1630s , wrote the occasional publication Auff Deß Wolgebohrnen Herren Herren Hans Georg Czigan / Freyherrn von Schlupska / Herr auff Freystadt / Dobroslawitz und Sacraco on the occasion of Czigan's death in 1640 / in goodbye to God .
