Johann Georg Friedrich Wendell (also: Johann Georg Friedrich Wendel ) (born July 26, 1774 in Rendsburg , † October 29, 1836 ibid) was a German city ​​governor , printer and newspaper publisher .

Life

Wendel was the first book printer to open a printing house in Rendsburg in 1806 and, with royal privilege, had published the non-profit weekly newspaper for Rendsburg and the surrounding area from 1808 , of which he was editor until his death. Today's Schleswig-Holsteinische Landeszeitung developed from the paper .

At the same time he was also active as a writer and published a description of the St. Marienkirche in Rendsburg.

He was elected governor of Rendsburg.

He was married to Anna Margaretha (* unknown; † February 19, 1842), b. Guts. Their son Friedrich Matthias Wendell (born December 25, 1798 in Rendsburg; † December 15, 1853) continued to print the Rendsburger Wochenblatt after his father's death . After Friedrich Matthias Wendell's death, his widow sold the company to Heinrich Gütlein.
