Christos Banikas ( Greek Χριστόδουλος Μπανίκας ; born May 20, 1978 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek chess player and holds the FIDE title of chess grandmaster .

Banikas won the Greek youth championships in class U-12 (1990), in class U-16 (1993) and U-20 (1996). He won the Greek championship eight times in the period from 2000 to 2005 and from 2008 to 2009.

In 2001 he was awarded the title of Chess Grand Master by FIDE.

Banikas played for the national team of Greece in the Chess Olympiads 1996 bis 2002 and 2006 bis 2016 , at the World Team Championship in 2010, when he reached the second best individual score on the third board, as well as in the European Team Championships from 2001 to 2017, with him in the European Team Championships 2005 second best result on the third board succeeded.

Banikas played club chess in Greece for the teams of chess academy DEI Macedonia / Thrace , AO Kydon-Supersport Chania and SO Peristeriou , with whom he also took part in the European Club Cup , and in France from 2001 to 2004 for Echiquier Niçois .
