Athanasios Mastrovasilis ( Greek Αθανάσιος Μαστροβασίλης , born April 18, 1979 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek chess player .

He won the Greek championship twice: 2015 and 2018. He played for Greece at four Chess Olympiads : 2004 , 2010 , 2014 and 2016 . He also took part in three European team championships (2009, 2015 and 2017) and the team world championship (2010).

In the 2005/06 season of the French team championship in chess , he was used for the Club de La Tour Sarrazine Antibes .

In 2000 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM). He was awarded the title of Grand Master (GM) in 2005.

He is the older brother of Grand Master Dimitrios Mastrovasilis (* 1985).
