Johann George Pfister

Johann George Pfister (born January 31, 1697 in Oberglogau , Principality of Opole , † after 1752) was a German goldsmith who worked in Neisse from 1727 to 1744 . Pfister belonged to an old traditional goldsmith family that had been based in Oberglogau for many years.

Life

Johann George Pfister was the son of the goldsmith Karl Pfister and his wife Anna Pfister. In 1713 Pfister began an apprenticeship in goldsmithing with Martin Vogelhund in Neisse. In 1727 he completed his master craftsman examination in Neisse, settled in Neisse and worked there until 1744.

The goldsmith Elias Pfister, who could be a son of Johann George Pfister, worked in Neisse and Oberglogau from 1746 to 1752.

Works

Pfister used the IGP master's mark for his works.

His works include:

  • Bishop's staff in the Breslau Cathedral Treasury, around 1732
  • The treasure trove of St. Jakobuskirche Neisse includes a reliquary monstrance with a cross relic by Johann George Pfister as well as other pieces of equipment made by him.
  • Processional canopy in Neisse
  • Monstrance made in 1732 in Lonschnik Church
